Developing a Curriculum Unit Plan

In this module’s Application, using your curricular evaluation in Module 2, you will develop an integrated curriculum lesson or unit plan, incorporating research-based strategies. The curriculum plan should feature authentic learning opportunities and focus on the learning needs of a diverse student group you identified in Module 1.

Directions:

1) Retrieve the Module 3 Curriculum Plan Table Template  Download Module 3 Curriculum Plan Table Template.

2) Create a Word or text document for your curriculum lesson/unit plan. Use 12-point Arial or Times New Roman font. Follow APA format.

3) Create a title page and references page in APA format. Write an introduction and conclusion for your paper.

4) Include the following components in your integrated, authentic-learning, lesson or unit plan. Use the bulleted titles below as subheadings in your paper:

• Curriculum Plan Title
  (Introduce the title of the lesson or unit plan with the introductory paragraph.)
• Diverse-Learning Target Group
  (Select the student group from Module 1 to be served by the curriculum plan. Briefly describe the group.)
• Description of Integrated Subjects
  (Select two subject areas to integrate into the plan. Provide a description of subject area # 1 and subject area # 2.)
• State or National Standards
  (Specify 1 to 3 state or national standards to be addressed. List them by number and descriptor. Include both integrated subject areas if they are covered by standards.)
• Lesson’s Learning Objectives
  (Describe at least 2 learning objectives for the plan – Objective 1: Objective 2:. Begin your objectives with measurable verbs. What will students know and be able to do after completing this unit? See Bloom’s articles on the learning objects page for thinking levels and corresponding measurable verbs).
• Curriculum Plan Table
  Recreate or copy/paste the Curriculum Plan Table below the lesson’s learning objectives section of your paper.

1. 1. Conduct online research to locate three evidence-based activities. Tutorials for conducting research are available at Digital Learning Connections Resources and Tips.
   2. Complete the appropriate sections of the Curriculum Plan Table Template by describing the steps of three research-based activities/strategies.
   3. Write the alignment of activities with one or more levels of Bloom’s Revised Taxonomy. See the learning objects page for Bloom’s levels.
   4. Cite the sources of the activities with a hyperlink (or the title of the source as a hyperlink e.g. Marzanos-9-High-Yield-Instructional-Strategies(Links to an external site.)) in the instructional resources section of the table. Provide the full citation of the sources in the references section at the end of your document in APA format.

  (Explain why and how the activities, including at least one authentic-learning activity, are applicable to the selected student population and how they promote higher levels of thinking in this student group.)
