Introduction

“If you don’t measure it, you can’t manage it.”  This well-known adage has been around for decades and has been attributed to many people, including Edwards Deming and Peter Drucker.  I think you would agree that the wisdom in these words can be attributed to some plain, old common sense.  That is, how would you know what success looks like if you have not defined it?  Or, how can you find improvement opportunities if you have no idea how well you are doing?

In this discussion, you will compare two commonly used performance measurement tools that are instrumental in addressing this critical aspect of supply chain management.
