CO 5: Discuss the implications of healthcare policy on issues of access, equity, affordability, and social justice in healthcare delivery.

Define advocacy in nursing.

Describe efforts of consumer groups to influence health care policy related to social injustice.

Discuss a health care policy and explore the social justice implications of that policy.

Discuss the affordability of health care as it relates to socioeconomic status.

Explain in your own words the different types of advocacy, as discussed in this chapter, and provide an example of each. C. Explain the differences between the use of anecdotes and evidence in advocating for health justice. D. Have you had an opportunity to useeither technique? If so please describe.

If not, describe how you could incorporate one to promote health justice.

A. Explain, in your own words, each of the advocacy skills identified in the article by Tomajan (2012). B. Discuss the differences and similarities between these skills and the ones identified in Chapter 7. C. Would you feel comfortable using these skills?

A. Choose two “nurses that roared” from the article by Attenborough et al (2019). Describe how each employed the techniques of advocacy described in the two prior readings to advance their agenda.
