Essay Requirements:

• Write an essay that is at a minimum 3 complete typed pages and no more than 5pages which follows the MLA format requirements given below. *Any paper handed in that is less than 3 complete pages will receive an “F”.

MLA Paper Format:

Ø Standard letter-size (8.5 x 11) paper

      Assignment: Describe the place you go to or the activity you do when things get hectic and you need to unwind. What qualities does it offer that help relieve stress? Be certain to give a dominant impression of the area/activity.

Ø One inch margins on all sides of paper

Ø Double spaced; Font size: 12; Font: Times New Roman

Ø Last name and page number in top right hand corner of the header section of each page Choose an authentic purpose for your paper.

Choose a specific audience and complete the audience analysis questions located in the writing lifelines tab via Bb. (You will submit this audience analysis along with your thesis statement for instructor approval.)

Actively use description, illustration, and narration as patterns of development in your essay. One should be the dominant pattern.

Thesis statement must contain a dominant impression.

Directly state the thesis statement in your introduction.

The paper will have a heading at the left margin which will be double spaced and contain the following information:

Name, Instructor’s Name, Class/Meeting Time, and Date.

This should not be in the header section of the page but rather in the main body of the page where the cursor appears when opening a new word document.
