Midterm Writing Paper & Creative Project
– Cover page (5 points): 1 page including 1) title of the assignment (1 pts), 2) the visual image of the original artwork (1 pts), 3) your name (1 pts), 4) the date (1 pts), and 5) the course number & title (1 pts)
– Body (20 points – NO less than1,000 words) – 1” margins, typed single-spaced (for digitized submission and double-spaced for printed version), standard font (Time, 12), proofread, professionally presented, and the word count at end in paper (e.g. 1,010 words or so.)
– 4-panel artwork (25 points): No smaller than letter size of paper (8 1/2” X 11”)
Choose a famous artwork (masterpiece) from which to develop your idea in a sequential
4-panel art (from museums, textbooks, internet resources, etc) and describe as follows:
Part I. Research Paper (Total 25 point):
*The submission due to Turn-it-In at “Assignment” on Blackboard is no later than midnight on Friday, 11/20!
*Following is the outline of the paper including required contents. So no need to put the outline # or the alphabet in your paper!
I.A. (5 pts.): Cover page including the above information.
I.B. (5 pts.): 1) Title of the artwork, 2) Name of the Artist, 3) Year of the artwork, 4) where, and 5) when you found/saw it during this semester. (*put resource information such as the name of book, URL website information.)
I.C. (5 pts.): Research and describe the historical background and the artistic value of the artwork. (*Put the resource info and restate the info in your own words. If you would like to use some few words directly, don’t forget to quote it.)
I.D. (5 pts.): Describe what it looks like and what YOU think of the art based on the study (e.g. the elements of arts, the materials of art, etc.)
*If you use technical art terms, you need to explain what it means in your paper! Don’t list the art terms that you leaned in class.
I.E. (5 pts.): Explain reason YOU chose it and the main points of your 4-panel artwork (e.g. a story of your artwork based on your selected masterpiece)
*Put the total word count (should be more than 1,000 words!)
Part II. Creative artwork (4-panel artwork: Total 25 points):

II A. (20 pts.): Create your own images incorporating the famous artwork in the 4-panel ART (or comic/manga style) based on the concept of Ki, Sho, Ten, and Ketsu (Introduction, Supporting sentence, Transition, and Conclusion).
II.B. (5 pts.): The final piece should attach/include one label information including the following things (You can also download the label from the folder of Mid-term project at Blackboard):
