Research Paper – BIO 168

Goal: Since we do not have sufficient time in class to explore diseases and conditions related to the systems we are studying; the paper and presentation will allow students to investigate the anatomical and physiological basis for these diseases.

Assignment: Pick your research topic and for this assignment you will work in pairs. If there is an odd number of students in a lab section, someone may work alone on the project. Each member of the pair should turn in their own individually written outline and paper and will present an equal portion of the presentation.

This is a scientific paper, NOT an opinion paper. Your research paper should include anatomical and physiological information that sufficiently describes the condition or disease. You may also include current treatment options, ongoing research in the field (if applicable) and other items of interest. You should provide at least 3 reliable references. For this paper, the references may be all online references, as we will be doing some of the research during lab time. Copying and pasting from a source is not acceptable and will be considered plagiarism which will be subject to the school wide plagiarism policy. The paper should be in your OWN words with references cited where needed.  References cited should be in APA format.

Each member of the pair will provide the audience with one question that the audience will be able to answer during or after the presentation.  These answers will be turned in by each student as part of their presentation grade.
