Civil War from the perspective of both the north and the south and how it affects society today

This was the pitch I made for my research paper:
The Civil War is still and most likely will always be the deadliest war this country has ever seen, with good reason too since it Americans fighting and killing each other. There was a lot surrounding it in terms of history such abolishment of slavery, assassination of lincoln, and of course the many notorious battles that occurred over the four year bloodshed. There were many reasons for why it was fought and some of the issues are still relevant to this day where there are constant protests to bury the past such as the demands to tear down statues of confederate leaders for example. Also, this war is responsible for why the topic of race is still being debated in our country. My primary source is from the University of South Carolina that has documents of newspapers from when the war was still going on. I hope to find a primary source for the north as well so I’m not just getting one side of the story and see what each faction has to say about the war. My secondary sources talk about the events leading up to war and why the south was continuing to fight against the north. I hope to get a look at and explore both sides equally to see what was going at the time with each side’s politics, military, and their stake in this war.

Instructions:
For the intro, provide a background for the civil war and discuss why it made such a big impact on out nation or why it was so significant. During the bodies discuss the primary sources, what do they reveal, who produced them, and if they were biased. Lastly, for the conclusion, what does the thesis and research provided unveil about the civil war
