Choose two scholarly articles on the subject within the module currently engaged in the classroom:

• Global View – Appreciation for the roots of all human invention in regards to clothing.
• Write down your ideas, impressions, and reactions immediately after reading the articles. In your notes, first describe briefly your own feelings during and after the readings, and then analyze what made you feel/react in specific ways.

Requirements

In writing your formal analysis:

Part I

1. Identify the article in Chicago Style citation. https://www.chicagomanualofstyle.org/tools_citationguide.html

2. Give a brief description of each article—no more than two or three sentences—in other words, what are the articles about?

3. Briefly establish the purpose—what do you think the author(s) of the article was trying to accomplish?

4. Compare and contrast a common theme in each article. This section should form the body of your analysis and is by far the most important. Be specific and include examples from the articles. Focus on at least one theme in detail and interpret why that theme is important.

5. Describe your personal reaction to the reading.

Mechanics

1. Required papers must be a minimum of 2 full pages, preferably 2, word-processed, double-spaced, 1” margins, 12-point font.

2. Observe standard rules of grammar, punctuation, and spelling. Underline titles (no complete caps, no quotation marks). Proofread your work carefully.

Method of Evaluation (see Rubric)

Your analysis will be graded according to the following criteria:

1. Whether or not you followed instructions.

2. Your comprehension of the articles.

4. Your quality of original thought.

5. Your clarity of expression.

Spelling, typing, grammatical errors and sloppy presentation reduce the effectiveness of your writing and therefore the quality of your paper. Students are encouraged to seek individual help from the instructor or the Writing Center on writing any time prior to the due date.
