For this assignment, you will identify a journalist whose work you admire, and three interesting articles/interviews/other works by that journalist which are examples of strong journalism.  (Provide citations and where possible, links, to these three works in your assignment.)  Write a 2.5-3 page journal entry (11 or 12 point font, double-spaced) that both

• discusses strengths (and any important weaknesses) of this journalist’s work, referring to the works you have chosen to provide examples

and

• reflects on how the journalist seems to understand the role and purposes of journalism, based on the works you have selected.  This reflection should relate this journalist’s understanding with views of the role and purposes of journalism that were discussed in either of the articles we have studied in class by Mitchell Stephens (“Beyond News: the Case for Wisdom Journalism”) or by Barbie Zelizer (“Definitions of Journalism.”)

This is not a formal essay, and as long as your journal addresses each part of the question I have asked and is written clearly, you can structure the journal however you want.
