Besides being one of the authors of the Declaration of Independence and our country’s third president what do we really know about Thomas Jefferson?  From the assigned readings you will have a chance to form your own opinion of Thomas Jefferson and get a sense of who he really was.   At some point you may find him to be complex or simply a man that suffered from cognitive dissonance (having inconsistent thoughts and ideas).  Whatever the case may be, for this assignment you are to construct a clear essay on the following questions:

• After reading Created Equal (https://www.facinghistory.org/nobigotry/readings/created-equal), (click hyperlink) what did you find to be most thought provoking? Explain and give at least three (3) reasons.
• From what you have accessed about Benjamin Banneker, was he well within his rights to challenge Thomas Jefferson? Explain in detail.
• For this question you are to read the Jefferson.pdf (click hyperlink) also located in Week 5 – Question: What are your thoughts as it relates to Thomas Jefferson’s distinction between Native Americans and African Americans? Explain thoroughly.
• For this question you must also listen to the Banneker Podcast (https://www.iheart.com/podcast/stuff-you-missed-in-history-cl-21124503/episode/benjamin-banneker-30208674/) (click hyperlink) located in Week 2 (see Banneker Podcast).  Question: After listening to the podcast what did you find to be most informational about Benjamin Banneker.  List three (3) facts and explain in detail.
• Is this topic on Jefferson and Banneker good History…why or why not? Explain.
